Geotailnics is a specialist consulting firm founded on over two decades of high-level, multidisciplinary experience in the mining and civil geotechnics sectors. Providing practical, innovative, and risk-informed solutions across the lifecycle of mining projects, we ensure the safety and long-term stability of critical mine infrastructure, particularly Tailings Storage Facilities (TSFs).

Tailings Engineering
Design, Stability Assessment, Risk Analysis and Governance

We provide end-to-end expertise in managing the risks associated with mine waste, drivingcompliance with evolving global standards.
- Tailings Design: Conceptual to Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS) level design for new TSFs, including in-pit and co-disposal facilities (Stability Assessment: Advanced analysis of TSF stability
- Monitoring & Management: Design, installation, monitoring, and interpretation of instrumentation, deformation analysis, and development of Trigger Response Plans (TRPs) and Dam Safety Reviews.
- Mine Closure: Expertise in capping design, monitoring, and geotechnical studies for progressive rehabilitation and mine closure plans
- Risk management: Critical risk identification and ownership, critical control implementation and standardisation, critical control verification and assurance, auditing and control effective assessment, reporting and governance.
- Advanced Risk Modelling: Application of Bayesian analysis for parameter dependence modelling, uncertainty analysis, prior probability updating, and predictive risk assessment in geotechnical and tailings failure analysis.

Mining: Open Cut & Underground
